Lining up the ducks...and other thoughts

I'm lining up my work for the weekend today - I am beginning work on a portrait of an adorable, grizzled older little pug gentleman, and I could not be more pleased, because if you are familiar at all with my work, you know that I absolutely adore pugs!! This particular doggie simply oozes personality through the photographs. It's as if you can read his entire life story on his wrinkled, pillowy face. His mom has some very well-thought-out ideas for the portrait. I don't want to ruin the surprise by saying too much, since the idea is pretty high-concept - - but I like it! And after getting a look at this pug, I think we can pull it off. I am excited. It will be different than any portraits I've ever done, if the plan comes together.

I'm also continuing work on a portrait of a very sweet doggie who unfortunately passed away from cancer earlier this summer. The owner won the portrait through a dog cancer fundraiser, which I donated to this past spring. I was so sad to hear of the doggie's passing. I'm hoping that the portrait will give the family some comfort. I really do think that having a portrait can help a person get through some of the tougher times after losing a pet. I have several portraits of our beloved Guinness (RIP) that I did back when he was alive, and one of them still hangs in the dining room - it's my first, and only, velvet painting (see it below). Guinness also died of (complications from) cancer. Anyway, it is a very good feeling to be able to donate something of value to help organizations such as this one raise much-needed cash. I'm so glad to have something worth giving!

Would love to see some dals in your work ... : )
